Girlfriend, if you’re on the hunt for stylish pieces to elevate your home or do some value-engineered “fill in” for a client project, with the right eye, HomeGoods can be a great resource.
Need to add a few room-completing or fresh touches? Got a photo shoot to fill out?
HomeGoods is where designers know you can score a few unexpected finds and great deals. Here’s how the savvy pro’s do it:
1. Lamps and Lamps!

Lamp pricing in the luxury design world has gone through the ceiling (no pun intended). We saw costs in the $650-$1,000 and up price range last year.
But, design-savvy thinkers know that lamps are a game-changer for setting the mood of any room…lamps cannot be ignored.
If using HomeGoods, keep an eye on quality and condition. But, done right, you can sometimes find interesting textures or unique bases to add perfect style to a space.
And if you’re a design pro, you know how to spot good-looking knock-offs from bigger brands.
2. Mirrors: Brightening, Stylish, and Room Expanding.

Mirrors are both functional and a great way to enhance the aesthetic of a room. I love using them when cleints don’t own much artwork, or can’t decide on artwork.
Whether you go for an oversized statement mirror or a smaller cool something in a powder room, HomeGoods could be the magic bullet.
Here again, watch quality and look for scratches and imperfections on the mirror glass itself, as well as the frame.
3. Artwork for Secondary Spaces

While the living room or master bedroom often steals the budget spotlight, there are always those secondary spaces—think hallways, powder rooms, guestrooms or home offices.
HomeGoods carries a variety of affordable artwork perfect for these smaller areas.
True, some of it looks low end. Or sometimes the artwork is ok, but the frame ruins it.
BUT, if you’re smart and use your eye, you can sometimes find that piece that looks like a great abstract oil, or an intriguing folk art piece…and every vibe in between.
4. Throw Pillows: Always a style move.

Ready-made throw pillows are an ever-easy, budget-friendly way to refresh any couch or bed. HomeGoods offers an incredible variety of pillows in different fabrics, colors, and textures and their assortment is ever changing.
When compared to custom pillow costs…they’re a steal at HomeGoods.
And if you’re not a design pro…guess where custom pillow costs were last year on the cost-o-meter? Re-read those lamp prices and you’ll be in the strike zone!
We love to add pillows for photoshoots to quickly change the vibe of a room (or if a client didn’t approve something we kinda-sorta-wished they did)…we can sometimes make up the difference on photoshoot day with a great pillow find from HomeGoods. 😊
Are they down-blend? No. Are they well stuffed? Not always. BUT – they are a quick style injection.
5. Bath Accessories

Speaking of soaring costs…bathroom accessories (soap dishes, trash cans)…wow…these can add up in the luxury design cost universe.
HomeGoods can be a great, though hit-or-miss, resource for these items.
Be warned: watch for quality and avoid the refillable soap pump dispensers. We had TWO incidents where decorative soap pump dispensers leached something out onto the counter tops of some pretty expensively renovated bathroom counters and it was a nightmare to repair.
Never again…BUT….for thumbs up for a soap dish or trash can.
Now that you’re armed with these tips, whether you’re one of my profession lovelies or one of my DIY lovelies…go forth and shop at HomeGoods but do it WISELY!
